Security...

Forrest Lake places great emphasis on maintaining good security within its community and works closely with HPD and the Precinct One Constables Office deputies who also patrol in the area.  Forrest Lake has a contract with an accredited security company to provide guards for permanent duty in our community on a 7day-night/week basis.  These guards are physically based in Forrest Lake and maintain a presence at the entrance to the property as well as making frequent patrols of the inside fence perimeter and grounds.

In addition to the guard’s presence, Forrest Lake has installed a series of video surveillance cameras to cover critical areas of our community such as the road entrance from Tidwell and the swimming pool gate areas.

Forrest Lake is private property so if the guards don't recognize someone you can bet they will stop to see who they are.  Recent Forrest Lake homebuyers have said that it was the security presence that helped them make their decision to buy their home in Forrest Lake.  The by-laws also require that renters submit to a criminal background check and that the owner supply the association with a current written lease.  Click here for a note about the lease requirements.

While no security initiative can completely prevent crime we're proud to say that when compared to Houston Crime Statistics, Forrest Lake shines above with very minimal criminal activity infact; HPD and constables from Precinct One who also patrol our area, regularly tell us that they view Forrest Lake as a "little quite oasis in the middle of the desert"... and we aim to keep it that way!  The board will continue to monitor the security needs of Forrest Lake and will make adjustments as necessary.

One of the main goals of the Near Northwest Management District is to become one of the safest neighborhoods in the City of Houston and Harris County.  Greater public safety will help the near northwest area grow economically while making the District a vibrant place for workers and residents alike.

Through it's initiatives, the Near Northwest Management District was successful in reducing crime in 2007.  The district will continue those initiatives and others in the coming years.  As of July 2008 The Near Northwest Management District so far has reduced crime in the area by about 20%.
