Built in 1974, Forrest Lake Townhomes is a 243 individually owned town home community situated on a 22-acre park like setting.
Forrest Lake has always consisted of mostly homeowners with few renters and is currently 92% owner occupied with many long term residents.
Forrest
Lake (note the two rrs) was so named because it had previously been a small dairy farm owned or operated by a Mr. Forrest. The
lake may have started off as a farm tank but the developer (Irby Simkins) probably enlarged it and certainly landscaped it well.
In those early days after the developer had departed, Forrest Lake had a lot of problems with the lake and so mud covered residents
were frequently seen wading around trying to find and repair leaks. It looks so good now that it's hard to imagine we once
had those sort of experiences.
Forrest Lake has always been self-managed but property maintenance was a somewhat arbitrary operation
in those early days and FL went through a procession firstly of single contract workers and then over the years gradually moved towards
the employment of a professional maintenance manager and a dedicated team of experienced employees. Many of these are still
with us today.
Security was also an on again off experience with a dismal succession of security people and companies many of
whom proved to be less effective than the one before. This has changed significantly as Forrest Lake has learned a lot over
the years and we now have had the same security officers on location for a considerable time (in one case for over 6 years)
and their familiarity with the property, long tenure, and conscientious attitude, provides us with good coverage.
Study of old
photographs show attractive development in our appearance. Our trees have grown enormously and the grounds have also matured
in a very pleasant fashion. This is all a tribute to careful planning, the devoted work of employees, and a general desire among homeowners
not to see their home and property deteriorate into just another worn out townhouse development headed for the rental market.
Maintenance and security remain a priority today and residents continue to take great pride in their homes.
